In December 2021 I sold my business to fund my art career. It was a bold and exciting move which is reflected in my work. I booked on to Emily’s ‘Paint Fit Retreat’ course and chose my subject matter. I'm interested in exploring my subconscious relationship with animals and the so-called animal behaviours in other people and myself. In a society saturated with technology and distractions I find it deeply necessary to connect with these strange feelings, behaviours and perceptions that seem immediate and eternal, visceral, spiritual and nurturing
With Emily’s unparelleled encouragement to paint intuitively and from the heart, my paintings have been created from the deepest inner part of myself. I draw my inspiration from relationships of all kinds-artist and subject, animals and human, humans and humans, energy, moods and instinct. It is important for my work to portray this and my subject is a channel for just that. I will always have my subject matter in mind when working on my paintings and drawings and the way in which I apply the paint or charcoal will reflect the sensations I am remembering or feeling, often using my hands to directly apply the medium to the substrate.
