I’m on a journey with my art. I started painting later in life and have been very fortunate to have found some fantastic teachers along the way.
For me, the most wonderful thing about abstract art is that there are no rules, which of course amplifies my desire to experiment and explore. Riffing on a subject, such as a walk in my favorite local park or the shape of my head and face, has been the missing piece that is moving my art forward.
The courses that I’ve taken at Seawhite Studios (Floribunda 1 and 2 in 2021 and 2022, Summer School: Walking the Land with Emily Ball and Katie Sollohub in 2022; Paint Fit in Fall 2022 and Drawing and Painting the Head in winter 2023 with Emily) have all encouraged me to stretch my art brain in new directions and dimensions. They have focused my art-making process, improved it, and given me a new understanding of both of what I can do with paint and of what I want to do with paint. I am deeply grateful to them both for their teaching and to Emily for her one-on-one advice.
