The exhibition of the work of these 12 top contemporary British artists, takes place in The Stables Gallery, Orleans House, London and is on until 22nd October 2017 and is not to be missed! In the meantime here is a preview with Helen Turner describing the way she works together with the 3 paintings exhibited at the show.
My work is about investigating an unseen world and the mystery of it. The starting point is the excitement of the materials and the feelings I want to express. My paintings are made intuitively out of collaged layers of all types of paint, paper, fabric and canvas. The subject emerges out of the process of making. I am interested in transforming my drawings using motif combined with the involvement of texture, surface and colour. I want my work to be evocative and have a presence".
We are very pleased to be offering our programme of Helen Turner courses, starting in October with a brand new course, Paper and Fabric Works - extending drawing beyond the traditional and exploring and learning how to use new drawing mediums. Helen Turner as an artist and tutor brings her unique understanding of art, painting, mediums and source materials to all of these courses, giving the time, resources and inspiration for students to experiement with and develop their work using new materials and subject matters.
GOOD NATURE Installation 2017
Candida Stevens Gallery,12 Northgate, Chichester
West Sussex, PO19 1BA. Until 28th October 2017
Once a year the Gallery commissions a major exhibition of new work based on a concept or theme of our time. This autumn GOOD NATURE is a 'celebration of our planet, its beauty and its fragility and the essential part we all play in preserving it'.
Seawhite Studio artist and tutor Emily Ball is one of the 31 Contemporary British Artists exhibiting pieces of work in response to GOOD NATURE.
Curator, Candida Stevens says "I have chosen to bring together these artists, writers and designers to concentrate our thoughts around the planet at a moment when its beauty and fragility are deeply affected by our treatment and explorations of it. I want to see how artists and thinkers will respond to this important theme. The show is curated to be a thoughtful and probing look at us and our place in the natural environment. I hope too that it will create positive reactions from those who come to see the work and want to make changes for the long term conservation of our world "
