Explore landscape through paint, collage, memory and visual play.
Working first outdoors, you'll gather drawings and paintings from the landscape before returning to the studio to cut, layer, reassemble and experiment creating large A0+ work.
Joe's richly layered paintings offer a fascinating starting point for exploring how a landscape can be felt and evoked rather than simply depicted.

Immerse yourself in the landscape of the South Downs and explore how to translate the experience of being there into paint.
You'll start by making studies outdoors, drawing and working with charcoal before returning to the studio to develop your ideas through painting, collage, cutting and re-drawing.
Simon will encourage you to work with freedom and energy, developing paintings that capture not just what the landscape looks like, but its movement, atmosphere and physical presence.

This week, we’re honing in on the key points.
A few focused days working alongside an artist can give your practice a real boost. Joe, Eve and Simon generously share their knowledge, processes and experience, giving you the opportunity to experiment, explore and see your work in new ways. And with the spacious Seawhite Studio as your base, you have room to spread out, step back and really see your work.
Come for the course. Take the ideas, discoveries and new ways of working back to your own studio. |
